A day of Rugby
On Sunday 19th of March, Rugby came to Pine Rivers!
Firstly, we kicked it off in the morning with a BJRU GEM Skills Session running from 9-10am. These have been designed to give girls playing the XVs GEM series (Under 11’s to Under 18’s) in term 2/3 dedicated skills session to prepare them for the upcoming season. Joined by Red’s Women’s players and some passionate coaches these sessions cover all the skills including lifting in a line out, scrum formation and general ball skills. As girls and women’s rugby is still developing in Queensland these sessions help promote the sport and allow certain drills and skills to be developed in the girls in a fun and friendly environment. As the competition is comprised of barbarian teams it also allows coaches to determine the best fit of players to ensure a smooth, well run and fun competition for all.
Once the girls left the field the boys came out to play with 4 back to back Junior Colt games being played on 2 fields. This saw 16 teams battling it out to determine which teams would progress up the ladder to play in the grand final being played at Norths Rugby Union Club on the 26th of March.
So a jammed packed day full of rugby saw the club humming with activity. The BBQ was in full swing and a great bunch of volunteers could be seen throughout the day working the canteen, rocking the orange field marshal vests and generally enjoying the action on the fields.

'Get into Rugby' Program
We have just finished a fantastic 'Get Into Rugby' Program to close out the year. 34 eager and energetic boys and girls of all age groups came down to experience the fun that playing Rugby at the Pine Rivers Pumas can be. A big thank you to the coaches and Queensland Reds players who attended. We hope to see you all at the start of the 2023 season to continue the fun playing rugby at the Pumas.

Trivia Night
In August we were very excited to host a Trivia Night at the Bonny View Hotel. We were joined by over 100 friends, family, current and former players and supporters for a night of fun, trivia, raffles and auctions.
The night was made possible by our talented and dedicated volunteers, in particular our Trivia Masters, Wayne, Kate and Nicole and our Auctioneer, Tim. A huge and heartfelt thanks goes to our generous sponsors and donors, in particular Queensland Rugby Union who donated our major auction items; the Bonny View Hotel who put on fantastic food and drinks and provided a wonderful venue; and all those who donated items for the raffle.
The night was a great celebration of all things Pumas and raised funds for much needed training gear for the club. We are looking forward to hosting more fundraising events in 2023. If you would like to support any of our fundraising ventures, please get in touch.
